Karin Svensdotter

Karin was born on the farm Southern Mon in Väse parish, Värmlands county, in the year 1659. Here parents were the farmer Sven Larsson and his wife Marit Månsdotter.

She grov up at home and learned how to read.

In 1688 she got married to Jon Torstensson from the farm Sileksta in the same parish. After the wedding Jon moved to his wife in Southern Mon.

In the month of January in 1730 she became a widdow as her husband died. The farm was then taken over by the oldest son Torsten and his wife Catharina.

Karin lived at Sothern Mon until she died, 90 years old, on September 27 1749. She had been in bed since midsummer with "coffing and in the end swelling". She got her last Holy Communion in bed on September 20. Karin was buried on October 8.

As noted in the churchbooks Karin and Jon had totaly eight children.
